Superheroes have been around a long time, but considering inflation, it’s amazing they can still afford to do their jobs.

Infographics for Mashable show Superman used to be able to live in Manhattan for $800 a year back in 1938, but the same apartment would cost him $24,000 a year today. Each suit for his day job as Clark Kent would cost $1,510 today instead of $30. And his classic $68 portable typewriter would have to be updated to a $1,500 laptop.

The Incredible Hulk’s PhD would cost him a lot more today. His undergrad and doctorate would have cost $36,510 in 1962, but $373,980 today.

Batman’s Wayne Manor would cost $444,000 today, up from $3,800 in 1939, but the Bat Cave is the real money pit, costing $54.4 million today as opposed to a meager $5,600.
