CFIB tackles small business regulatory costs

Your business owner clients may be getting some good news today.

The CFIB is meeting with Ontario government representatives to work on reducing the regulatory burden on small businesses in the province.

They are proposing the following action plan, with officials having only 60 days to address each listed priority:

  • Reduce the paper-burden imposed by WSIB;
  • Give small business a fair opportunity to bid on government procurement contracts;
  • Continue to measure and report the regulatory requirements imposed on small business;
  • Review all new and existing regulations on businesses; and
  • Provide online tools that let owners give feedback on regulations

“Government red tape costs businesses a staggering $11 billion a year,” says CFIB’s Ontario vice president Satinder Chera. “Regulation duties are the second-highest priority for owners after taxes, and needs to be reduced so they can focus on the economy and job creation.”
