  • BPI Global Opportunities Fund becomes CI Global Opportunities Fund.
  • BPI Global Opportunities III Fund becomes CI Global Opportunities III Fund.
  • BPI American Opportunities Fund becomes CI American Opportunities Fund.
  • TSX-listed BPI Global Opportunities II Fund becomes CI Global Opportunities II Fund.

Narayanan remains lead manager of CI’s CI.Trident Global Opportunities Fund hedge fund, as well as a portion of the portfolio of CI Global Managers Sector Fund.

CI will close the CI Multi-Manager Opportunities Fund, which invests in units of other CI hedge funds.

“Nandu’s experience as a hedge fund manager is extensive, given his tenure as an analyst at hedge fund firm Tiger Management and experience in managing his own U.S.-based hedge fund since 1998,” said Anderson. “We have every confidence in his ability to manage these portfolios and are pleased to provide the opportunity for him to focus his business in this direction.

“With these moves, we have simplified our lineup while strengthening our funds and portfolio management teams,” he said.

  • BPI Global Equity Sector Fund;
  • BPI International Equity Fund; and
  • BPI International Equity Sector Fund.

Trilogy has also been named portfolio advisor to those portions of the portfolios of CI Global Managers Sector Fund and CI American Managers Sector Fund that were previously advised by BPI.

William Sterling, chief investment officer of Trilogy, and senior portfolio managers Robert Beckwitt and Greg Gigliotti are the new lead managers of BPI Global Equity Fund, BPI International Equity Fund and their Sector Fund equivalents.

The three are already lead portfolio managers of CI Global Fund, CI International Fund, CI International Balanced Fund and CI Global Boomernomics Sector Fund. The team also manages the portion of the portfolio of CI Global Managers Sector Fund previously managed by Daniel Jaworski, CIO of BPI.

John Bichelmeyer of BPI will continue as lead manager for the BPI American Equity Fund and BPI American Equity Sector Fund and as co-manager of CI American Managers Sector Fund.

Jaworski, Bichelmeyer and Pablo Salas will continue to manage the BPI institutional investment accounts under the BPI Global Asset Management name — accounts that include the portfolio of the Assante US Equity Diversified Pool offered by Assante Wealth Management.

“The addition of the experienced BPI managers brings further strength to the exceptional team of senior portfolio managers that Bill Sterling has assembled at Trilogy,” said CI’s Anderson.

Meanwhile, Nandu Narayanan has decided to focus his Trident Investment Management, LLC on the hedge funds. Narayanan was sub-advisor to several CI mutual and hedge funds.

As a result of his focus on hedge funds, CI has named Epoch Investment Partners, Inc. of New York as the new sub-advisor to the CI Pacific Fund, CI Pacific Sector Fund, CI Japanese Sector Fund and CI Asian Dynasty Fund. Epoch’s CIO, William Priest and Daniel Geber are the new lead portfolio managers.

Priest is also now lead portfolio manager of CI American Value Sector Fund, CI American Small Companies Fund and CI Global Small Companies Fund.

Trilogy Advisors has been named to replace Trident for the CI Emerging Markets Fund and CI Emerging Markets Sector Fund, with BPI’s Salas acting as lead portfolio manager.

Trident has been named portfolio advisor of CI’s hedge funds previously advised by BPI, with Narayanan as lead portfolio manager. These funds have been renamed as follows:
