Sandpiper has reduced its stake in senior living provider Extendicare Inc. The Manji family’s investment arm sold 2,500 common shares for $56,125. The average share price was $22.45. The move reduced its ownership position to 9.99%, just below the threshold that triggers further disclosure obligations under Canadian securities laws.

The Canadian federal government has approved the merger between Teck Resources Limited and Anglo American. Both companies approved the deal on Dec. 9. This merger will form a new company called Anglo Teck, a global critical minerals player. Anglo Teck has committed to spend $4.5 billion in Canada within five years.

Professional services firm MNP is expanding in the Lanaudière region of Quebec by joining forces with Boisvert et Chartrand, a chartered professional accounting firm. The deal is effective Jan. 1. With the expansion, MNP will have 36 offices, 234 partners and more than 1,500 team members in the province.
