Douglas Porter named chief economist of BMO

BMO Capital Markets has appointed Douglas Porter as chief economist, effective February 1, 2013.

“I’m honoured to be given the opportunity to lead our exceptional team of economists,” says Porter. “I am committed to ensuring our capabilities continue to strengthen in the coming years.”

In his new role, Porter will have oversight of BMO’s team of economists responsible for providing insights into the state of the global economy.

“Doug excels in interpreting and communicating the impact of key economic and financial data for businesses and investors,” says Mike Miller, head of equity products & research, BMO Capital Markets.
