Employment issues plague retail sector

Some sectors across the country face unique employment challenges.

So says Daniel Pugin, a partner in McCarthy Tétrault’s Labour & Employment Group in Toronto, in a recent article on BenefitsCanada.com. He adds there are 5 major staff issues retail stores currently face. These include:

  • Laying off seasonal workers sometimes requires termination pay
  • Determining who legally is entitled to overtime can be tricky
