Fewer Americans claiming jobless benefits

The number of U.S. unemployment benefit applications has dropped more swiftly than expected, reports Bloomberg.

Last week’s tally of applications is at the lowest level in nearly two months, dropping 21,000 to 323,000. That’s down from 344,000 the week before, and the fewest since September 28, 2013.

In contrast, most economists surveyed by Bloomberg had expected the rate to drop to 335,000. Read more here.
