The accounting firm Ernst & Young has conferred its 2011 Pacific-region Entrepreneur of the Year award in Professional and Financial Services on John Nicola, chairman and CEO of Nicola Wealth Management Ltd.

A 45-year veteran of the industry, and a 2010 finalist in the business-to-consumer products and services category, Nicola founded Nicola Wealth Management in 1994 and has grown the firm from a fledgling seven-person operation to a company with over 70 employees and $1.6-billion in assets under management.

“I have always felt that any award such as this should reflect on the company and its culture more than a single person,” said Nicola in a recent press release. “It is great to be recognized, but any achievement is a combined result of unqualified support from my family over the years and being able to build our company with such dedicated and talented partners and staff.”

Nicola has consistently pushed the boundaries of traditional financial planning and investment management approaches. As a leader in the wealth management field he has employed transparency, proactive communication and results as tools to building trust and keeping clients.
