Chip Wilson, founder of lululemon, is stepping down from the company’s board of directors.

Wilson founded lululemon in 1998, after which he expanded the company from a small storefront in Vancouver to an international brand with more than 250 locations.

In January 2012, Wilson left his position as Chief Innovation and Branding Officer to begin a sabbatical. About a year later, he was asked to return to help revive the brand and handle significant management changes.

Now, says Wilson, “The company has returned to the core values that made it great, and [it’s] back on track […] I have achieved the goals I set when I came back, and after careful thought, I believe now is the right time to step away from the board.”
