Statistics compiled by Mint.com find a growing number of young Americans are taking jobs merely to pay the bills, are working in unpaid jobs, or have moved back in with their parents to save on rent. These and other factors are leading to a delay in financial independence, and causing some to speculate that the very concept is now a thing of the past.
