Macklem to replace Carney: WSJ poll

Twenty-one top economists polled by The Wall Street Journal’s Canada Real Time all said Tiff Macklem, the Bank of Canada’s senior deputy governor, will be tapped to replace Mark Carney.

Runners up in the poll included Stephen Poloz, Export Development Canada’s chief executive, and former Bank of Canada deputy governor Jean Boivin.

“Dark horses include Andrew Spence, a managing director at OMERS […]; Michael Evans, a vice chairman of Goldman Sachs Group Inc.; and Tim Hodgson, the former Goldman Sachs Canada CEO who had a stint as special adviser to Mr. Carney,” the report notes.
