Manulife Mutual Funds is planning to cap all new purchases of the following mutual funds, effective March 28, 2013:

  • Manulife Canadian Investment Fund/Class
  • Manulife Canadian Balanced Fund
  • Manulife Diversified Investment Fund

This doesn’t affect contributions made under existing pre-authorized chequing and dollar-cost averaging plans.

All series of these funds will be capped, including those used in segregated fund contracts.

This decision comes as a result of Mawer Investment Management—the sub-advisor to the funds—having reached their investment limits for their Canadian equity strategy.

Manulife Mutual Funds offers access to its U.S. Equity Fund, World Investment Class, Global Equity Class, Global Small Cap Fund, and Canadian Bond Fund if people are looking for alternatives.
