OSC issues warning about EquityStar fund

The Ontario Securities Commission is warning Ontario investors not to invest in the EquityStar Momentum Growth Fund, which purports to be located in the United States.

Recently, it says an Ontario resident was contacted by a representative of EquityStar via e-mail about an investment opportunity. However, the company and this rep aren’t registered to sell securities in Ontario.

On June 6, 2013, the New Brunswick Securities Commission issued a similar warning after two residents were contacted in that region. If you have any questions relating to this matter, the OSC asks you call its contact centre at 1-877-785-1555.
