OSC requests comment on new exchange proposal

The OSC has published a notice and request for comment regarding Aequitas Innovations’s plan to propose a new equities exchange be established in Canada.

Aequitas is proposing that it apply to operate an exchange to trade securities of issuers listed on Aequitas, as well as securities listed on other recognized exchanges in Canada.

The OSC is seeking comment on specific aspects of the company’s draft proposal.

The comment will help inform staff and gather any new input from stakeholders in advance of any official filing by Aequitas. In order to receive recognition to operate as an exchange, Aequitas would be required to first file an application with the Commission, for which there would be an additional public comment period.
