The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is looking for members for its new ad hoc Exempt Market Advisory Committee (EMAC).

On June 7, 2012, the OSC announced it plans to broaden the scope of its exempt market review. As part of the next phase of its review, OSC staff will:

  • publish a second consultation note
  • seek further feedback from investors, issuers, registrants and professional advisors
  • consider the experience of other CSA and international jurisdictions.

The new committee will inform staff on possible regulatory approaches to the capital-raising segment of the exempt market and will advise on potential new capital raising prospectus exemptions for business enterprises.

It will be established for one year and will meet approximately four-to-six times over the course of that year. It’ll consist of 10 to 15 members, who will be selected for their extensive knowledge of capital raising as it relates to the exempt market.

Jo-Anne Matear, manager of the corporate finance branch, will chair the committee.

Interested parties should submit their application, indicating their relevant experience, by June 27, 2012. Applications and questions regarding EMAC may be forwarded in writing to:
