Raymond James has hired industry veteran David Burnes as its new senior vice president of the firm’s correspondent services business.

He’ll be based in Toronto, and his appointment is effective June 18, 2013.

“We believe the time is ripe to offer an enhanced version of our correspondent services business,” says Paul Allison, CEO of Raymond James.

Burnes previously worked at National Bank of Canada, where he was the COO of the bank’s correspondent network. He says he plans to “bring that same focus, enthusiasm and passion for serving my clients…at Raymond James.”

Raymond James’ correspondent services helps wealth management firms with their custodial and clearing needs. It also assists with compliance, governance, asset management, equity research, technology, strategy and capital.
