Retired FCAC commissioner joining OSC panel

The Ontario Securities Commission’s investor advisory panel has four new members and a new chairperson.

The panel comments on OSC proposals, including rules, policies and priorities, brings forward policy issues for consideration and advises on the effectiveness of the OSC’s investor protection initiatives.

The new members will serve a two-year term. They are:

Jane Ambachtsheer, a partner at Mercer, where she leads their global responsible investment business.

Harold Geller, a leader in the financial loss recovery group of McBride Bond Christian LLP.

Alison Knight, past senior executive for companies in the financial services sector and board member for numerous professional, regulatory and not for profit organizations including the Consumers Council of Canada.

Ursula Menke, retired commissioner, Financial Consumer Agency of Canada.

The panel has been expanded to nine members from eight. The new members join continuing members Paul Bates, Connie Craddock, Alan Goldhar, Ken Kivenko and Cary List.

Following the completion of his one-year term, Bates has decided not to continue as chair of the panel due to the demands of his other professional obligations.

Craddock is taking over as chair and she’ll serve a one-year term.
