Tsagarelis joins Manulife’s Canadian core equity team

Manulife Asset Management has announced the appointment of John Tsagarelis, CFA, as portfolio manager for the newly formed Canadian Core Equity.

Based in Toronto, he will be part of a team led by Monika Skiba. The pair will manage Canadian core equity strategies for clients of Manulife Asset Management, the investment management arm of Manulife Financial Corporation.

“John’s addition to Monika’s team demonstrates our commitment to further building out our fundamental equity capabilities in Toronto,” said Chris Conkey, Chief Investment Officer, Global Equities. “We are thrilled to have two highly experienced professionals, who have worked together very successfully in the past, anchor this new team.”

Prior to joining Manulife Asset Management, Tsagarelis was a consultant at Hillsdale Investment Management, and has worked at CPP Investment Board, Veritas Investment Research/Asset Management and McLean Budden.

Skiba says she expects to hire two investment analysts to round out the team in the next few months.
