SEC charges two in Spain with insider trading

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged a former high-ranking official at Madrid-based Banco Santander S.A. and a former judge in Spain with insider trading based on non-public information about a proposed acquisition for which the Spanish investment bank was acting as an advisor.

Manulife sells Taiwan life insurance ops

Manulife Financial Corporation today announced that its subsidiary, Manulife (International) Limited, has signed an agreement to sell its life insurance business in Taiwan to CTBC Life Insurance Co., Ltd. (CTBC Life), a subsidiary of CTBC Financial Holding Co., Ltd., one of the largest financial holding companies in Taiwan.
