Annual and other fees payable under laws administered by the Autorité des marchés financiers will increase effective Jan. 1, 2025.

The fee increases will vary by category, the Quebec securities regulator announced Thursday. None of these fees are subject to a provincial government tariff cap.

Fees relating to the Securities Act, Insurers Act, Deposit Institutions and Deposit Protection Act, Trust Companies and Savings Companies Act, Act Respecting Financial Services Cooperatives and Derivatives Act will go up by 2.85%.

These fee increases are determined by law on Jan. 1 each year, indexed to the Quebec consumer price index after removing alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.

Meanwhile, fees relating to the Act Respecting the Distribution of Financial Products and Services and Voluntary Retirement Savings Plans Act will rise by 1.6%. These fee increases were determined based on the consumer price index for Canada for the period ending Sept. 30, 2024.
